Michael A. Boehm

Sergeant Boehm responded to a call for a man down on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal at 34th Street NW Washington, DC on December 16, 2011. He was assisting another District 3 officer handling a critically injured person who had jumped from the Key Bridge. District of Columbia Fire and EMS were on the scene for the call he originally responded.

As Sergeant Boehm was assisting with the investigation, he collapsed. The firefighters and EMS at that scene immediately provided aid to Sergeant Boehm. They transported him to Georgetown University Hospital where the medical staff continued treatment. Efforts failed to resuscitate Sergeant Boehm and he was pronounced a short time later.

Sergeant Boehm was a U.S. Army veteran attaining the rank of Specialist (E-4) and had served with the United States Park Police for 19 years.

All who were fortunate to have known him will take with them his warmth, his selflessness, his dedication, and his genuineness. The Boehm family and the United States Park Police are dimished by his loss.
